Seniors achieve the 2-peat in the annual Powderpuff games

The annual Powderpuff games took place on Sunday, Oct. 27 at Joyce Park. All four classes put together teams to battle it out in a friendly game of flag football.

The Juniors lost to the Freshmen in the first round as did the Sophomores to the Seniors. In the end the Seniors came out on top 28-0 against the Freshmen.

This year the Seniors had some trouble filling spots on their team and came into Sunday rather unprepared. But that didn’t seem to affect the team.

Senior head coach, Zack Schuster said, “We did not practice. We only had an hour walk through before the games. I made the offense super simple for the girls to understand and A.J Rowland made the defense the same way.”

That simple offense and defense worked perfectly for the seniors and their coach thought highly of his players’ execution.

“The offensive and defensive lines controlled the line of scrimmage giving Mick, Jill, and all of the skill players to run free and make all the tackles and score all the touchdowns,” Schuster said.

The spot of champion will be up for grabs next year with the 2 time champion class graduating.

Schuster has some advice for coaches next year: “It takes great communication with your team. You can not get mad at your players and you need to be extremely positive.”

Going into next year maybe the coaches should keep those thoughts in mind. In the end the senior class is well deserving of their victory.

“Every girl on the senior team has been blessed with talent to play the sport of flag football. It felt like we had all the pieces of the puzzle to win the game,” Schuster said.
