The Badin Banner

Back for more

Ms. Trotter, Class of 2015, is back at Badin on the other side of things. She teaches mathematics; her favorite subject while attending Badin High school.

Her main influence to become a Math teacher was Mrs. Keating.

“I really liked math when I was here and I related a lot to Mrs. Keating,” Trotter said.

From the time she left, till the time she returned not a whole lot has changed. The only thing different was that she could now refer to her old teachers by their first names.

“It was weird because all of my old teachers wanted me to call them by their first names.”

Ms. Trotter values the relationships she builds with her students and it’s one of her favorite things about teaching. “Building relationships with students, and getting to know them as people and what they like,” said Trotter,

Her reaction to being offered a job at her alma mater made her ecstatic.

“Working at Badin was a dream job, somewhere where I grew up, it meant a lot to me.”

Ms. Trotter is becoming popular among students because of her ability to connect with students. She can relate to some students since being barely removed from high school. Most students prefer to have a teacher who has experienced the same situations they are currently going through, and Ms. Trotter is exactly that.
