Christmas is a time for celebrating Jesus’ birthday and baking Christmas cookies. One popular cookie for the holidays is hallongrotta, or most commonly known, thumbprint cookies.
For hallongrotta you will need:
½ cup sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, creamed
1 whole egg
2 cups flour
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp any preferred jelly
The directions are as follows:
Preheat oven to 375°
Cream butter and sugar
Add egg and mix
Add flour and salt
When mixed well, form dough into marble sized balls and place on cookie sheet
Press thumb in the middle of dough balls
Put jelly in the center
Bake for about 8 minutes
Now the cookies are baked and beautiful. The perfect little cookie that will make the family beg for more.
