As the championship battle between Big Dart Energy and Daddy Middle Legs came to a closing, it was still tied six to six. A decision was made to have co-champions this year for Nerf Wars. Each team made one-third of the money and the other third went to charity.
“The decision was made by both teams in the finals. I gave them a choice of best 2/3 shootout or another round. They came back to me with the co-champions decision,” Comissioner Gabe Hirka said.
Both teams were tired of the stress for Nerf Wars, so they were given the decision to just end it.
Both of these teams fought tirelessly throughout the Nerf Wars season. Some may think that there is a secret to winning, however that is not the case.
“Honestly it was just playing smart and communication. Whenever one of us got out, it was just us beating ourselves,” Big Dart Energy player Ryan Kirkendall said.
“No one could handle us. We warned everyone but they wouldn’t listen. You can’t tame beasts,” Daddy Middle Legs member Donovan Watkins said.
While competing for the prize, some teams said they experienced problems with the rules and judging. It is obvious that there needs to be some changes for next year.
"I think there should be strict interpretation of the rules next year,” Kirkendall said.
“For next year, there has to be rule changes. The rules have to be cut back. People need to start playing the game, not the rules,” Hirka said.
It was apparent this year in Nerf that the game was more focused around getting people disqualified than just playing the game the way it was meant to be played.
This Nerf season may have seemed problematic but to sum it up, “It was a good year,” Watkins said.
