New Teacher Who This?

The beginning of a new school year brings new beginnings for not only the students at Badin High School, but for the teachers as well. Adding new teachers like Mrs. Barker to the staff and making her feel welcome to the Ramily.

“I am from Oxford and I went to Talawanda High School. Some of my best friends went to Badin, so I knew it was a good community and it is very different from other schools. We are more like a community here. I like feeling really connected to the teachers and my students,” Barker said.

Although she went to Talawanda, she came to teach at Badin after she got done student teaching. She wanted to join the Ramily and be a part of this amazing community. She had heard about Badin from kids when she was younger and knew what they were all about. She knew that Badin has a great community and connects teachers and students.

“I have never taught a class at a high school. I have only student taught at Kings High School for half a year and at the College of Performing Arts for one year. I student taught at some other place but not for long. I student taught 8, 9 and 10 grade,” Mrs. Barker said.

Although never having taught before, she has made a great addition to the school and is impacting the lives of her students in a great way. She is very dedicated to what she does and is up to learning new things.

“I only student taught in English classes and I have never taught Publication before I got to Badin, but I really enjoy teaching the class,” Barker said.

She has made a connection with each and every one of her students. She is loved and respected by all of her students. She likes to see her students improve and become better in what they are striving for.

“My favorite part of teaching is building relationships with my students and seeing them grow throughout the year,” Barker said.

Although she has never taught before, she stepped up to the plate and took on new things. She has made a great addition to the school and the community. She has made new relationships with the students and teachers. We are happy to have her here.
