Mr. Zimmerman, 1977 alumni, likes the tradition of families at Badin.
Zimmerman’s favorite thing about Badin is his students, and he has also taught many people in their families.
“The students are my favorite thing about Badin. I have taught a lot of their parents over the years, and I like the tradition of the families coming through,” Zimmerman said.
Zimmerman said that a lot of the families have been at Badin since he was a student.
“The school has stayed the same because there are many of the same names. The community has always been strong,” Zimmerman said.
Academics and athletics are other things that Zimmerman appreciates at Badin.
“Athletics have always been good and academics have always been at the top,” Zimmerman explained.
While some aspects have stayed the same at Badin, other things have changed.
“The building is much nicer now than when I was a student. My Freshman year, there was about a thousand students here, so we are not as packed in now,” Zimmerman said.
Zimmerman was involved in both athletics and clubs when he was a student.
“I played hockey, and I was a member of the Key Club. I was also on the snow crew and helped shovel snow before school starts,” Zimmerman stated.
Zimmerman taught at Saint Veronica’s before coming back to Badin.
“I was teaching at Saint Veronica’s and a job opening at Badin became available. My father-in-law, Coach Malone, told me about it,” Zimmerman said.
