Do you feel stressed by exams?

As students prepare to take exams next week, there is a lot of stress in the air at Badin.

Midterms can be seen as one of the most stressful weeks of the year. Teachers assign many tests and projects before winter break. Since you can’t be exempt from these exams, many students cram to study all of the information they need to know.

Studying for exams and finishing exam projects can add on a lot of stress to already overwhelmed teenagers.

“I am stressed about my exams. I’m taking six exams, all of which are for AP or Honors classes. Luckily I don’t have three on the same day because studying for three completely different subjects stresses me out. It’s going to be rough,” senior Sophie Tischler said.

Senioritis has already kicked in for some seniors, especially with exams, but this is not the case for Tischler.

“Senioritis hasn’t really affected me for exams due to the fact that I’m trying really hard not to move out of Top 10. This semester is the last thing that really counts. I’m trying hard for exams but after that, I don’t know,” Tischler said.

Seniors have been taking these exams for a couple of years now so they might know what to expect by now. However, many students of the freshman class don’t know what to expect.

“I am very nervous because all I did at my old school were Iowa tests and now it’s a whole new atmosphere,” freshman Hailey Lipp said.

Even though most students feel stressed by exams, there are still some people who aren’t that bothered by them.

“I don’t get stressed out ever,” junior Owen Mathews said.

Some classes can give students more stress than others.

“I’m stressed for two exams. Technology and history,” Lipp said.

“I’m probably most stressed for my calculus exam because I’ve been struggling to understand the material all year, it’s not something I can just memorize. I’m not feeling confident with integrals especially,” Tischler said.

As Mathews simply said, “Exams are hard.”

Good luck to all students!
