The Badin Swim Team practices and meets are in full swing as winter begins, causing the swimmers to train harder than ever before giving them very little time to socialize especially when speaking underwater is out of the question. However since (insert date here) the swim team has created a tradition that everyone on the team enjoys.
Swim team dinners happen once a week to every other week and are hosted at the house of one swimmer on the team each week. The person who is hosting the dinner makes the main course and the sides while everyone else that is coming brings a two-liter of soda or a dessert. After eating, the swim team plays games and hangs out.
“I like team dinners because it’s a great time to bond and build friendships within the team members. You get to bond to other people that you might not get to talk to at practice or meets. We’re all together 5 or 6 days a week so getting together and learning more about each other than just swimming is fun” said senior swimmer Elise Nolker.
These dinners give the swimmers a chance to get to know each other better and relax after a hard week of meets and practice.
“I like the pong tournaments we play at the swim team dinners because it’s a tradition that always happens and you can take it as seriously as you want and it’s fun to teach the new swimmers how to play to pass it on,” said senior swimmer Kevin Spade.
We loved by all, the swim team dinners are a tradition that will continue on as new generations of swimmers come and go.
