Many students have strong opinions on the lunches at Badin High School. Most Badin lunches provide students with a large selection of food items to choose from, so there are many different things for students to eat. However, there is one lunch that stirs up controversy.
The Badin Bowl is typically served on Thursdays and is a combination of chicken and potatoes with the student choice of adding cheese, corn, gravy, or all three. Some students, such as senior Kevin Fehring, are huge fans of the Badin Bowl, claiming that it is their favorite lunch item.
“I love Badin Bowls because they taste good. The corny corn, the creamy mashed potatoes, the savory gravy and the yummy chicken make for a combination that can’t be beat,” Fehring said.
Other students, such as junior Kim Salerno, find the Badin Bowl putrid and absolutely refuse to eat it.
“The Badin Bowl is anything but miraculous with its soggy chicken and nasty mashed potatoes,'' Salerno said.
Clearly students are split on if they like this food item or not. However, the real debate is if Badin should keep selling the Badin Bowl or replace it with something else. Kevin Fehring couldn’t imagine Badin without the Badin Bowl.
“The Badin Bowl needs to stay! They are top tier and my favorite lunch at Badin, hands down,” Fehring said.
Kim Salerno, however, is all for getting rid of the Badin Bowl.
“The Badin Bowl is only sold because it’s easy to make. Everyone likes the pizza or popcorn chicken so much better. I just don’t think it’s healthy or tasty in any way, so it should be done away with,” Salerno said.
Despite the complaints of some students, it seems that the Badin Bowl is here to stay, continuing its reign as the most controversial food item on the Badin menu.
