Civics Day 2019

Civics Day is a fun event open to any AP government students. It is a chance for the students participating to learn more about their local government and propose some of their own ideas. Mr.Keating has been a part of Civics Day for a long time and enjoys it every year.

“I love seeing students engaged in their government and proposing their ideas about how to improve Badin from a student perspective,'' Keating said.

One element of Civics Day is taking tours of different buildings in Hamilton to learn more about the city. This year was Mr.Seitz first time taking on Civics Day, because this is his first year teaching AP government to seniors.

“I was very interested in getting to know more about Hamilton on the tours because I am not from here so I was very excited about that,” Seitz said.

This year, Mrs.Oliver was specially recognized during Civics Day for being an outstanding teacher. The students selected her to be recognized and presented a speech about her during Civics Day.

“I definitely do not teach for the recognition, I do it because I love it and my students. So to be recognized was amazing, but to be standing in front of my students and peers as David read aloud such kind things almost brought me to tears,” Oliver said.

Civics Day Is a great opportunity to learn more about Hamilton and all the new things happening in our city. If your want to be involved all you have to do is take AP government.
