Cheer Squad: Showing School Spirit

The cheerleaders are excited to show their spirit at the playoff game against Ross on Friday. The cheerleaders practice Wednesdays and Sundays to prepare for the football and basketball season.

Senior Elise Noelker who has been cheering since the eighth grade has been cheering for the four years she’s been at Badin.

“Team bonding and team dinners are my favorite,” Elise responded when asked about her favorite part of cheering.

Team dinners are at different cheerleaders’ houses every week, and the team gets ready together for Friday games.

When asked about the organization of the dinners Elise responded, “The moms sign up for different Fridays to host the dinners. It’s fun to get ready with the whole team.”

The cheerleaders have to retain many dances and cheers to be on the team. The cheers vary in difficulty.

When asked about the difficulties of cheer Elise responded with, “Retaining the material and remembering everything.”

Some cheerleaders on the team defy gravity as they tumble and cheer. Many fans at football and basketball games are impressed with their skills as the cheerleaders flip and do intricate steps.

“I would say about half of the team knows how to tumble well,” Elise commented about the tumbling skills of the team.

As the football games get colder, the Badin community is excited to see the cheerleaders cheer for boys basketball next season.
