Track stars take on state

The indoor track team had an incredible season this year. The team made it to state and did a phenomenal job there too. Sophomores Liz Burley and Mallory Smith had the chance to travel to state after their hard work throughout the season.

“It was really well run and I thought it went really well for everyone,” Burley said.

The meet was very well organized and it was a good run for all members. Everyone all aimed for one goal together and worked hard to achieve it.

“Our goal was to run our best. Our mentality there was that it doesn’t matter where we place as long as we do better,” Burley said.

The track team ran their hearts out and left with good results. The boys and girls both placed close to each other and came out strong.

“The boys 4x8 placed 13th, the girls 4x8 placed 11th, and the 4x4 placed 14th for both events. The girls placed higher than they were supposed too. The boys placed where they should’ve and all relays had their best times,” Burley said.

The boys and girls on the team had a great turnout at state. Each worked their hardest and pushed through to the end.

“This season was a great one and it was a new experience that went very well,” Smith said.

Smith was new to the indoor track team this year. She made many new friendships and found something new that is really fun for her. The team also improved a lot this season and overcame many struggles.

“We did improve this season and worked together as a team as well as individually with our times,” Smith said.

The indoor track team is at an end for this year. They had a long, tiring season but ran their hardest and has built friendships they’ll never forget and memories from the season. The Badin community is proud of the track team for doing so good at state and representing the school.
