Grandparents talk about their time in high school

Grandparents Day at Badin is a day for grandparents of the sophomore and senior classes to come and enjoy a breakfast with their grandkids and get a tour of the school. Carter Cook's grandpa, Paul Dedham, was excited to be at Badin for Grandparents Day.

“I’m glad to see they have Grandparents Day. It's so nice to have the opportunity to spend time with your grandkids and see what their daily life is like,” Dedham said.

The grandparents got to tour the school and get an inside look at our classrooms. Many of them noted a big difference from our classrooms to their high school classrooms.

“We had chalkboards in all our classrooms. That was the big difference I noticed. Also we had all priests as teachers,” Dedham said.

The classes Badin provides for us now are different from classes our grandparents had when they were in high school. Cora Fiehrer compared Badin to her old high school and noticed a lot of differences.

“We had no electronics in our science classes and we had home ec classes where we learned how to cook and sew,” Fiehrer said.

Grandparents Day is a fun opportunity for grandparents to get an inside look at their grandkids day to day life at school.
