Recipes From a Redhead: Poor Man’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Have you ever wanted to make chocolate chip cookies but you don’t have brown sugar, and it's too unsafe to go outside? Well today’s your lucky day because this recipe calls for maple syrup instead of brown sugar.


The ingredients include:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) of soften butter butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • A whole bag of 12 oz Toll House chocolate chips

The instructions are as follows:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F
  • In a bowl, combine your flour, baking soda, and salt
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, syrup, and vanilla extract until creamy
  • Add eggs one at a time, making sure each are well beaten before the next addition
  • Gradually beat in the dry ingredients
  • Stir in the chocolate chips until they are fully mixed in with the dough
  • Place them using a small scooping spoon onto a parchment placed baking sheet
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes
