Summer 2020 is starting out differently than anyone expected due to the Coronavirus. With stay at home orders starting to be lifted, many people are wondering when and how things will be opened up.
Junior Lucy Wulzabacher commented, “I think it’s nice that places are starting to reopen. I just hope we are not rushing into things. At this point though, I still would not be too eager to go anywhere. I just want to hang back and see what happens.
Certain businesses such as restaurants with patios and barber shops/salons can reopen on May 15 while indoor restaurants can reopen on May 21. Customers will have to follow social distancing rules and have to limit the amount of people in the businesses.
Badin Alumni Kelly Salerno said, “I just don’t know many restaurants that have patios where I live. I am excited to get my hair done and see different friends that I haven't been able to see.
Summer entertainment such as Kings Island will not reopen till Mid-May at the earliest. This is the first time in 48 years the park has not opened in April. Guests who have already bought 2020 season passes will enjoy bonus benefits to the park that have yet to be announced. Kings Island is also offering to extend 2020 passes to the 2021 season to make up for lost days.
Senior Kaitlyn Wilms commented, “ I feel like it’s a good thing to put everyone's health first. If Kings Island doesn’t open this summer, it will be very disappointing because I just want to go out and have fun.
Different Summer vacations have also been altered or cancelled throughout spring break and into summer break. Many cruise lines have been cancelled due to the CDC’s “no sailing” order for crew and passengers over 250 people. Many students also saw their spring break vacations cancelled due to the virus.
Badin Alumni Katie Salerno responded “It doesn’t feel like summer without the option to travel with friends and family.”
With 2020 summer break just around the corner, Badin students hope that their summers will be filled with fun and friends. The Badin community wishes all faculty and staff a safe and happy summer.
