As the world heads into 2020, why don’t we have a look at the music we listened to in 2019. We will uncover what was the best genre of music, the most popular song and the top artist of 2019.

In third place for the top genre of 2019 was electronic music. This music is created and performed by using electronic instruments. Electronic music rose to popularity in the 2000s, however it was extremely popular in 2019.

In second place is rock music. This form of music has always been a largely popular with teenagers or young adults. However, rock lost its first place spot to Hip-Hop. Looking in 2019 the most popularly listened and viewed music was created by Hip-Hop/Rap artists.

For the next topic of music, let's take a look at the top ten artists of 2019. Tenth place is held by Halsey, in ninth place we see Lil Nas X. Taylor Swift takes eighth and Ed Sheeran takes seventh. Travis Scott and Drake take sixth and fifth place, fourth is occupied by Khalid.

Now for the big three.

In third place, Billie Eilish held the longest spot on the billboard charts for her song “bad guy.”

In second place we have Ariana Grande whose “Thank You Next” song lasted 33 weeks on the most popular song chart.

For our number one position, it was given to Post Malone. His newest and most popular song “Circles” lasted at the top for 19 weeks in 2019.

Lastly, we will find out which song was the most popular in 2019.

The most popular song of this year is “bad guy”. This song was created and performed by Billie Eilish, a young artist who first appeared to the public in 2015. “bad guy” came out on March 29, 2019.

The song knocked Lil Nas X’s,“Old Town Road”, down after 19 weeks at the top of the chart. The song “Bad Guy” lasted 41 weeks on the Top Hundred songs in the number one spot.
