Badin swimmers celebrate their Senior Night

On Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, the Badin swim team faced off against Fenwick at the Fitton Family YMCA. About halfway through the meet, the seniors were honored. Emily Muroski, the head coach, read bios on behalf of the seniors.

The twelve seniors who were honored included Colin Crank, Caroline Castrucci, Jackson Long, Brode Gibson, Evan Papania, Paige Parrish, Emily Sauer, Sophie Tischler, David Reigel, Adam Sherman, Elise Noelker, and Kevin Spade.

The seniors’ parents walked them up, and they each received a carnation from the Junior Team Captains, Tate Brandabur and Tommy Hogan. Following the meet, Jenny Nye graciously took photos of the team.

The swim team followed its tradition of everyone jumping into the pool together. Coach Muroski and Coach Boock were also pushed into the pool to continue the tradition.

After the photo session, the team got to celebrate Senior Night with cake, cookies and snacks at a party put together by the seniors’ parents.

Following that, the seniors and their parents had dinner at the Marriott in Hamilton to finish off the night of celebration.

“We’ve had a great season so far and Senior Night made me realize how many great seniors we have on the team and how much we are going to miss them next year,” Assistant Coach Boock said.

Senior Night was not only an important time for parents and athletes, it was special for the coaches as well.

"Senior Night is bittersweet for coaches. On one hand, you get to celebrate the growth and accomplishment you've seen in your athletes during their time with your team. On the other hand, you know that your time together is coming to an end. A lot can change in four years. When you're in the middle of four years it seems like a long time, but once you come to the end you realize how quickly time passes. All we can do is make the most of every second we are given and leave with no regrets,” Coach Muroski said.

Not only did the seniors get to celebrate their Senior Night, but both the girls’ and boys’ team beat Fenwick at the meet. Go Rams!!
