Weird News from January

What a month January was! World War III memes, Kobe Bryant’s death, Coronavirus and much more.

But the one thing that stays constant in the world, the weird news! From hippo throw up to predict the Super Bowl, deers in backyard pools and Bigfoot finally being caught on camera.

Zookeepers at the Cincinnati Zoo decided to get Fiona the Hippo to predict the outcome of the Super Bowl in a unique way.

The hippo walked towards two items in her exhibit, both embroidered with the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

“We had assumed she would just press her snout to one of the items,” One of the many keepers of Fiona said.

But she had just eaten lunch and figured the best way to predict the winner would be to upchuck her previous meal on the item.

Her predictions though are about 50% compared to other animals such as Paul the Psychic Octopus so don’t expect the same results next year.

Though hippo throw up isn’t the most interesting animal encounter from January, firefighters had to rescue a deer who decided to go for a swim.

“I looked out the window Thursday morning and saw my pool cover loose, then I saw the deer,” Sandy Arbino said.

She then called the Deer Park-Silverton Joint Fire Protection District who quickly came to the rescue of the deer.

The deer stayed on her backyard deck for a little bit to regain its strength before bounding off back into the wilderness.

Not only does Arbino now have a legendary story, the legend of Bigfoot might just be true.

The Washington State Department of Transportation webcam caught something moving up in the hillside by a road.

The department posted the images to twitter with the caption, “Sasquatch spotted!!! I’m not superstitious… just a little stitious.”

They then asked if anyone else has seen anything strange along the roadside. Leading to people playing along with the department.

A reader posted, “They DO exist! #IBelieve.”

The agency then went back to the hillside and stood watch for a while, waiting to see the creature with their own eyes and catch it on camera once more.

The transportation department found out their signal/sign shop manager is the only one that had any information.

“There’s a story behind it, I’ll see what I can find out, but he’s being very tight lipped!” The agency said.

What do you believe? Is Bigfoot really here or just a myth? Do you think that Fiona the hippo will predict the win next year? And what would you do if there was a deer in your pool?
