The Class of the Clashes

Every year, Badin High School hosts a competitive event that gets the whole school together. Spirit Olympics is a day when each class works together to try to win an obstacle.

This year, many students have tried Spirit Olympics for the first time or have always done it each year. Freshman Ava Franchini, sophomore Mary Hunt, and senior Caitlyn Conrad, participated in the games this year. I asked them all about how the experience was for them.

“This was my first year doing the Spirit Olympics and it was very fun for the first time. I am definitely doing it again,” Hunt said.

For freshman Ava Franchini, this was her first year trying something new coming into high school.

“I did tug-of-war, and it was really fun. The Spirit Olympics was a fun experience and I’m glad I did it and tried something new,” Franchini said.

People had first time experiences for the Spirit Olympics, but others have played every year and still enjoy it. Senior Caitlyn Conrad, has played all four years and recently won this year.

“I have done the Spirit Olympics all four years. It feels amazing to win. It was so bittersweet to win this year, and it felt like the start of something big when we won sophomore year. It was funny to see some seniors cry,” Conrad said.

Spirit Olympics is a time when you try new things and new experiences. Meet new people and put yourself out there. A chance to be competitive and work with your class to win. It’s all about trying new things in high school and finding out what you love and what you’re good at.
