Faculty alumni feature: Mrs. Breetz

Mrs. Breetz, a Badin graduate of 2001, wants to help current students establish their roots.

Breetz enjoys many things about teaching at Badin, but she specifically enjoys her students and she feels like she connects with them.

“My favorite thing about working at Badin is my relationship with my colleagues and with my students,” Breetz said.

Breetz teaches science classes, with physiology being her favorite.

“I like teaching at Badin because I enjoy the subjects that I teach, and I just really like what I do,” Breetz said.

Many things at Badin have changed since Breetz attended the school, including locker sizes and more options of elective classes. When she went to Badin, they had seven periods, unlike eight periods today.

Even though many things have changed, some things have remained constant. “The feeling at the games and the rallies have stayed the same,” Breetz said.

Breetz was involved in both sports and in clubs when she was a student.

“I played soccer and basketball. I was also an ambassador and I was in NHS. I was also in student council and I was Senior Class President,” Breetz explained.

Breetz has enjoyed taking science classes since high school. Her favorite class at Badin was physiology.

Before teaching at Badin, Breetz taught at a public junior high school. She didn’t like teaching at junior high level because the science class teaches mixed subjects instead of focusing on a specific topic.

“Teaching at a high school level appeals to me because I like to teach single subject courses. Coming back to Badin felt like coming home because it’s where I established my roots and I want to help other students to establish their roots,” said Breetz.
