Kayla Fletcher: Ross Ram to Real Ram

Kayla Fletcher is a new student at Badin this year, coming from Ross High School.

Since Ross is Badin’s number one rival, this switch is a unique one. Fletcher transferred to Badin at the beginning of the school year as a junior.

One thing Badin likes to express most is the feeling of community and the “Ramily.” It is something that’s special to Badin.

“Everyone is so nice and welcoming. I’ve already made lots of great friends. All of my teachers are great too,” Fletcher said.

Adapting to a new school environment can be difficult for anyone, especially with schools as different as Ross and Badin.

“One thing that has been different is the bell schedule. At Ross, we had a block schedule every day,” Fletcher said.

Most transfer students usually have a good reason for changing schools.

“I shadowed Badin last year and I loved it. Everyone in my family went to Badin and I thought it would be a good experience for me too,” Fletcher said.

One way to make the transition easier to a new school is to get involved in different activities.

“I’m involved in the cheer program at Badin. It’s very organized and the coaches are great. I’m not in any clubs yet,” Fletcher said.

Many students are hyped up about the first football game this weekend, especially since it’s against Ross.

“I’m very excited about the game because Ross needs to be beat. Let’s keep the tradition going,” Fletcher said.
