Program Description and Policy Information
The Doctor of Philosophy in Learning, Literacies and Technologies is a scholarly enterprise dedicated to high quality, influential research that transforms education in Arizona, nationally and internationally.
The program draws from a rich array of theoretical perspectives, research traditions and content disciplines that enable graduates to address the complex nature of research in schools and other educational spaces, and advance their scholarly contributions to education. Students graduate equipped to develop interdisciplinary approaches to complex problems and issues. For more information visit the Learning Literacies and Technologies Program webpage.
Students are encouraged to read and understand the Student Handbook (2023/24) which contains information on admission, tuition cost and financial aid, curriculum and graduation requirements, student responsibility, university processes for student support, appeal and grievance policies and more.
In addition to the College Retention Policy found on within the Policy & Code of Conduct, the PhD program requires:
Maintaining grades of a 3.00 overall GPA with no course receiving a grade below a “C” (3.0).
Completing each Dissertation Research course (DCI/EPA 799) with a “Satisfactory” (Y) grade.
A student with a course grade below “B” (3.00) or “Y” may repeat the course within one year or, if the course is not available within that period, the Coordinator may approve another course may be taken to offset the low grade. The repeated or alternative course is in addition to the 85 semester hours required for the program. A grade of “B” (3.0) or higher must be earned on repeating the course or taking an alternative course to continue in the program.
