Your academic advising team works together to keep you informed, on track for graduation, and supported throughout your program. Here is some information about the roles within the team.

Sophie Owen - Academic Success Advisor, Sr.
As the core members of your advising team, we will interact with you most frequently. We are experts on your program requirements and are available to assist with program related questions. We are also familiar with ASU and MLFTC resources and will refer you, as appropriate, to ensure you are fully supported.
Other members of the team:
Cadie Ely - Academic Success Coordinator, Sr.
Cadie coordinates advising-related functions, working mainly behind the scenes, though you will likely hear from her at some point during your program.
Brian Robinson - Academic Success Coordinator, International Partners
Brian supports students in various countries throughout Africa pursuing graduate certificates, as well as students in China pursuing programs taught exclusively in the Mandarin language.
Program Description and Policy Information
Students are encouraged to read and understand the Student Handbook (2023/24), as well as familiarize themselves with the ASU Graduate College Policy Manual.

Required Courses and Plan of Study
Upon admission to the program, each graduate student is assigned a sequence of courses. It is important to follow the assigned course sequence and discuss any variation from the sequence with an academic advisor. The complete list of required coursework for the program can be found on the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College website.
When you submit your Plan of Study (iPOS), list Antonio Duran for faculty advisor as "Chair."
To determine the sequence in which you should take the courses in the program, click the dropdown that corresponds to the year and semester when you started the program. The specific course sequence will also include the location (Tempe or Online).
2023 Admission Year
Culminating Experience
Students admitted starting in Fall 2024
The culminating experience for this degree is the Applied Project (HED 593) course. This course will be taken in the last semester of the program. HED 593 is conducted during session B. Students work with a faculty mentor within this class to propose and conduct a project in their local context.
Students admitted before Fall 2024
The culminating experience for this degree is the Applied Inquiry (HED 573) and the Applied Project (HED 593) courses. These courses are taken in the last semester of the program.
HED 573 Applied Inquiry is taken in session A of the last semester and begins the research of data to be used in the following Applied Project course.
The Applied Project is conducted in the HED 593 course during session B. Students work with a faculty mentor within this class to propose and conduct a project in their local context.
