What are developed and developing countries
You can name at least 3 of each
Why this idea of the world might not quite be correct
This is the traditional view of the world the:
Rich Developed North and the Poor Developing South
It generally holds with the idea that the blue countries have more money and a better quality of life. However this is not truly accurate anymore and there is a lot more variations exist.
China for example is the second largest economy in the world and the quality of life held by those in the Pacific Islands is quite high, they just tend to be quite poor countries.
A much more realistic view of the world are the 2 maps below
The Physical Quality of Life Index (PQLI) is an attempt to measure the quality of life or well-being of a country. The value is the average of three statistics: basic literacy rate, infant mortality, and life expectancy at age one, all equally weighted on a 0 to 100 scale.
The Human Development Index (HDI) is an attempt to measure the level of development with a country based on their life expectancy, education and per capita (person) income. Countries are then given a score between 0 and 1
Despite the fact the reality of the difference Developed and Developing countries is not so clear. For the sake of ease, in Scottish Geography we currently use the simplified method of the first map, with a Developed countries being in the North and Developing Nations being in the South.
