Rural Land Degradation can be a natural process but it can also be a very human-caused process as well.
Regardless of the cause or who is to blame, it is a process that gets increasingly worse as the more land is degraded the more the remaining good land is put under pressure and is more likely to suffer as well.
There are 2 ways to think about this:
As a Vicious Cycle which is one that continually spirals downwards
An Impacts table shows you the flow of consequences from each previous impact.
This is the first examinable section. You could get asked to explain the impacts on people or the environment or both. Make sure you are clear on which is an impact on People and which are impacts on the Environment.
