Thrive at Caldicotes

Thrive in Caldicotes

What is it?

Thrive offers a trauma-informed, whole school approach to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

In Caldicotes we adopt Thrive approaches so that we can reduce and remove barriers to a child in order for them to 'thrive and  'find their remarkable.'

Experts tell us that our children’s behaviour is their way of communicating an unmet need, often because they do not yet have the language to tell us. By understanding children’s social and emotional development, we are able to help your children become confident, curious, emotionally resilient and more engaged with both life and learning.

What it looks like in Caldicotes

From observations and engagement with the children, staff complete an assessment which identifies the key elements that require further development using the Thrive online portal.

Whole class, group and individual plans are then developed to support the child to secure their development with activities and 'play based' interventions implemented to support closing gaps in emotional health and wellbeing so that the children can be emotionally secure and resilient with learning but facing challenges as they grow too.

Thrive and Sensory rooms

To support our provision we have dedicated spaces for children to access. Our Thrive room is set up with areas of learning to specifically target elements of children's  development identified in their 'thrive profiles.'

Our Sensory room is a space which can benefit all students, especially those who have been exposed to trauma, chronic stress and those with specified sensory needs. Our dedicated sensory space can provide a safe environment where children can be supported to calm and regulate, therefore optimising learning and participation in the school environment.
