Across the school year, 2023-2024 Caldicotes engaged in activities and events, learning about specific issues and problems both locally and around the world, so that our Caldi children and their families could learn more and try to find solutions to make a difference for our school, our community, our country and and the world.
As a result of the various initiatives, charitable events and activities inspired by our children and our local community that we have collectively engaged with as a school, we have been recognised and awarded the Social Action Award.
You can visit the site below to find out more about Superkind and the spirit of the award.
Inspired by the tragic death of one of our Reception children, Luke, in January 2023, children families and the wider community identified different ways to commemorate Luke.
Events such as our Summer Fayre, raffles, quizzes helped raise funds that have been channelled into developing Luke's Memorial Garden.
Staff, children and families along with remarkable support from Thirteen, Cllr Graham Wilson and the Middlesbrough based skip company, have worked together over the course of the year to re-develop a space in our grounds into a place we can all be proud of. A garden full of colour and natural elements, bursting with life; as Luke was.
Our official opening of the Memorial Garden is to be scheduled once the artisan-designed archway to commemorate Luke has been installed to form the entrance way to our very special space.
