Successful completion of Chinese 9 Language and Literature, and/or placement test. Placement in the Honors section of this course requires: Completion of all assigned honors work; Teacher recommendation based on Q1 performance and grade (minimum B+ and above). Honors placement is finalized after Q1.
This course advances the Chinese Language Arts program and is designed for native or near-native speakers of Chinese. It serves as a preparatory phase for the two-year IB A Language and Literature program, focusing on developing literary analysis skills. Students will engage with selected texts across various genres, exploring diverse perspectives and appreciating the stylistic and aesthetic qualities of each work. Key assignments include commentaries, creative writing, and oral presentations. The course emphasizes an in-depth understanding of human nature and societal interactions through the study of significant works. Students pursuing Honors credit must complete additional assignments and will be evaluated using an Honors-specific rubric.
