In this semester-long elective course, students in grade 9-12 will concentrate on 3D skill building and learning, starting with clay, the history and sourcing of clay, as well as its different techniques and uses. Students will work with plaster, carving of wood and soap and use wire as armature. Through a hands-on, material-based approach, students will understand and learn sculpture techniques, reflect on how sculpture can talk about culture and learn about artists, all while building their sculpture techniques. They would learn various techniques of sculptures, with a focus on clay and reflect on materiality and its role in a technology-based, hands-off society.
