Successful completion of IB Visual Arts 1 or Visual Arts 1

Description:

This year-long course offers 12th grade students the opportunity to gain an Honors credit by developing their own structured portfolio. Independent research on art history and international contemporary artists is required together with a lot of commitment and self discipline. 

Field Study Component

This annual field study in Venice offers IB Visual Arts students a chance to engage with contemporary art at the Venice Biennale, the world's oldest art exhibition. While optional, it enhances the IB curriculum by fostering connections with artists.

The Biennale alternates focus each year—Fine Arts and Architecture & Design—allowing students to broaden their perspectives by attending in both Year I and Year II.

• Year One (2025-2026): Focus on Architecture & Design, installations, and sculpture, with additional exploration of Visual Arts.  

• Year Two (2026-2027): Fine Arts.
