Students enrolled in the face to face Math 8 course, meeting the following enrollment prerequisites:
Student performance in the first quarter of the current face-to-face course will be evaluated with an emphasis on Quarter 1 assessments. Students enrolled in the face to face Math 8 class are expected to perform at a B+ and above to be considered for the Algebra 1 virtual course.

Counselor’s input to ensure alignment with the student’s academic path.
This course is designed to provide the students with a solid foundation in Algebra. The students will focus on topics such as exponents & radicals, linear and quadratic equations, lines in the coordinate plane, systems of equations, factoring, expanding and factoring, the Pythagorean Theorem, right angle trigonometry, and Statistics. Mathematical reasoning, mental math, and problem-solving strategies are emphasized throughout the course.
*Upon successful completion of this virtual course, students will be required to take a face-to-face placement test, which will be scheduled a week after the final exams, to determine accurate placement in their next on-campus Mathematics course at ACS Athens:
To progress to Foundations of Geometry, students must earn a passing grade on the placement test.
To progress to Geometry Regular, students must earn a C- and above on the placement test.
To progress to Geometry Honors, students must earn a B+ and above on the placement test.
