Use a stuffed animal to show your child what's next before you do it with them. Show actions like "brushing teeth", "putting on night clothes" and "reading a story". Narrate each action and then engage in your bedtime routine with your child.

Toddlers love to feel included. Try asking them to take the lead as you transition throughout your bed time routine. Try asking "What do we do after we brush our teeth?" or "Which story do you want to read before we go to sleep?" Then thank them for making choices throughout the routine.
