Repeat and add to what they say and do: During snack time, notice your baby’s actions. You might start out by saying, “It’s snack time, let’s eat our blueberries.” Notice if your baby is reaching for blueberries, and connect the sequence of actions: “You just picked up your blueberry, great job! Can you put the berries in your mouth? Chew, chew, chew!”
Tune in and respond to what they look at, do, and say: Snack time for toddlers is both exciting and challenging. Offer your toddler two simple meal choices and allow them to help you make their chosen meal. “Would you like a cheese sandwich or turkey, apple and crackers? Okay, let’s get the ingredients. What do we need first?”
