Reading for Learning
Tune in and respond to what they look at, do, and say. Place two books in front of a baby and ask: “Which book do you want to read?” Whichever one they touch or initiate, you read. You can do this choice activity with toys as well: “Which toy do you want to play with first?”
Make faces, use gestures. Animate stories you read in books by pausing to make exaggerated facial expressions to show the different emotions that are being described or felt by characters in the book. Use big and small hand and arm gestures to describe an item as small or big.
