Talking at Bed Time
Talking at Bed Time
Comment on what they're doing or looking at. Use words to describe each step of your bedtime routine, naming things your baby looks at or reaches for. Wait for your baby to coo, babble, or talk back to you and then keep the "conversation" going!
Toddlers love to feel included. Try asking them to help you complete a bedtime task: “Can you help me make the bed?” Describe how they can help you. For example, ask, “Can you take your blanket from the floor and put it back on your bed?” Invite them to participate in each step of the routine as you talk about what each of you does.
