Transitions at Meal Time
Transitions at Meal Time
With infants, take advantage of small moments throughout mealtime to talk to them about what you're doing. For example, "I'm warming up your oatmeal", "I'm putting your oatmeal in a bowl". You can also narrate their actions to walk them through the routine: "you finished eating your oatmeal" and "now, you are drinking your milk".
With Toddlers, Talk about what you’re doing and thinking as you transition between mealtime and other activities: “Mommy is getting ready to work on my computer. I’ll set up my desk, my chair and get a snack. Do you want a snack too while you color?”
