Why should you eat this?
Eggs are high in calcium and vitamin B, which can help your body produce more melatonin. Anyway, my dear year 10 PTS students, you remember the egg drop experiment for physics? You do? Cool. You can use your failed attempts for this!
Ingredients (serves 3):
6 large eggs (can be replaced with firm tofu)
5 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
¾ cup soy sauce
3 tbsp mirin (sweet Japanese rice wine)
2tbsp unseasoned rice vinegar
Toasted sesame seeds (for serving, optional)
3 cups rice (to serve)
1 Cucumber, cut into bite sizes (to serve)
Gently submerge your eggs in a pot of cold water and bring it to a boil. Let your eggs boil for 7 minutes.
Combine garlic, red peppers, spy sauce, mirin and rice vinegar in a large container and mix well
Remove eggs from boiling water and transfer them into cold water so that they stop cooking. Let sit until completely cooled and then peel the shells of the eggs.
Submerged the eggs into the marinade and let it marinade overnight in the covered container.
Serve with rice and cucumber.
