We have a very special family fun event this December at St Machar’s Cathedral.
We welcome all ages – and especially families- to visit us on 15th December 18.30-21.00 for a fantastic FREE evening of Christmas delights.
There will be performers Fin and Coast from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland singing seasonal favourites and clarsach player Alice lending a festive atmosphere to the evening. Browse quality gifts in the cathedral shop or craft a decoration of your own to take home.
There will be refreshments and family activities and any donations will go towards the cathedral’s nominated charities Big Noise Torry and Médecins Sans Frontiers.
Do join us – we look forward to welcoming you into the historic heart of Old Aberdeen this Christmas.

ASV Energisers recognises that not all children have the same access to sports programmes, and we’re committed to changing that by offering free inclusive sports coaching, hot meals, access to facilities, and sports kit – helping to break down barriers to participation and ENERGISE our local community. Last year, the programme recorded 5,119 sporting participations in the programme! Our next block of sessions will commence Monday 4th November and run for 6 weeks, continuing to provide free sporting opportunities for local primary school pupils in Aberdeen City & Shire.
We’re delighted to welcome back our fantastic partner clubs for the next block:🏃♂️ Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club,⚽ We Make Footballers Aberdeen,🏓 ASV Table Tennis Academy, 🏊 ASV Learn to Swim. Their continued support allows us to keep breaking down the barriers to sporting participations by delivering high-quality sessions, giving children the opportunity to stay active and inspiring the next generation of young athletes! We are also thrilled to welcome over 30 NESCol Sports Coaching students – our biggest intake to date! These students will gain invaluable hands-on experience working alongside our expert partner club coaches as the Energisers programme continues to grow and develop.
A huge thank you as well to our generous sponsors, Serica Energy and CNOOC International, whose support enables us to keep providing these free opportunities for local children. Each child who attends the ASV Energisers programme in 2025/2026 will get a free Energisers water bottle thanks to their sponsorship, allowing the children to stay hydrated at our sessions.
⚠️ Important information: Please note, children under the age of 8 MUST have a parent/guardian present to sign in and pick up at each session. To comply with our risk assessments and safeguarding requirements, we must maintain an accurate register of all participants, including their emergency contacts, medical conditions, allergies, and any relevant disabilities. This ensures we can provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for every child. For this reason, and to prevent sessions from exceeding capacity while ensuring all registered children receive their entitled hot meal, we can only accept those who have registered in advance. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate unregistered participants, including siblings, for the sports sessions or free hot meal.
🗓️ Bookings go live: Tomorrow (Wednesday 29th October)
📅 Programme dates: Tuesday 4th November – Thursday 11th December
➡️ To book, visit the ASV Energisers webpage and follow the links to each sport. Alternatively, follow the links for each sport on the attached PDF
