Well done to Oliver J for meeting his writing target this week and writing a fantastic story about the three little pigs.
HWB
This week in Health and Wellbeing we have been looking at the 5 different food groups.
We discussed different examples of food that could fit into each group and then used the Eatwell plate to have discussions about having a healthy balanced diet.
Chance and Uncertainty
Lots of fun and great discussions this week in maths.
P2’s were discussing scenarios and fitting them into the categories of possible or impossible.
P3’s were discussing different scenarios and finding the best word that fit with the scenario (impossible, uncertain, unlikely, possible, likely, certain).
They then had some chance games to play including bingo, flipping coins and rolling dice.

Another snow day for us all, here are some activities you can do today. If you haven't done so already have a go at some of the other activities that have been posted this week. I hope to see you all soon!
Literacy
-Our writing target this term is connectives, could you have a go at writing a sentence for each of these connectives (and, but, so, because)
e.g One snowy day I spent hours building a huge snowman but then the sun came out and melted it away.
- AI snow house: start by drawing your own snow house, then label your house with at least 3 describing words (adjectives), think about the colour, size, how many windows/doors.... Then use the AI link (DeepAI) and type this phrase into the prompt along with your chosen adjectives: 'create a photorealistic 3D image of a snowy house with…’
Then compare your drawing with your AI picture! Have a look at my house below!
Maths
-Big Maths Learn its challenge (P3- step 6,7,8 P2- step 3,4,5 ). Try and complete all the questions, if you would like a challenge try timing yourself like we do in class (P3- 3 minutes P2- 1 minute 30 seconds).
- 3D shape hunt: can you find any 3D shapes at home or outside? (e.g a can of beans- cylinder).
Other activities
Music- experiment with making your own sounds using Chrome Music Lab

Alongside the links that were shared yesterday, if you have the time you can have a look at the first set of spelling sounds and words for this term. You could practice them by writing them out 2-3 times or making your own Elkonin boxes to help sound out your words.
P3's as a challenge if you have a dictionary at home, can you find the definitions for some of your words? For the flamingos and kangaroos can you think of any 'qu' or 'g' words of your own?
Or could you get outside and try writing your spelling words in the snow?
If you manage to get some work done, take a picture and share it on google classroom or you can bring it in when we are back in school!

Calypso Carol
Verse 1
See him lying on a bed of straw: a draughty stable with an open door; Mary cradling the babe she bore, the prince of glory is his name.
Chorus
Oh now carry me to Bethlehem, to see the Lord appear to men
Just as poor as was the stable then, the prince of glory when he came.
Verse 2
Star of silver, sweep across the skies, show where Jesus in the manger lies; Shepherds, swiftly from your stupor rise, to see the saviour of the world!
Chorus
Oh now carry me to Bethlehem, to see the Lord appear to men
Just as poor as was the stable then, the prince of glory when he came. (repeat once more)
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?
Then how the reindeer loved him, as they shouted out with glee Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer you'll go down in history (repeat 2 more times)
It was on a Starry Night
Verse 1
It was on a starry night, when the hills were bright
Earth lay sleeping, sleeping calm and still
Then in a cattle shed, in a manger bed
A boy was born, king of all the world
Chorus
And all the angels sang for him, the bells of heaven rang for him
For a boy was born, king of all the world x2
Verse 2
Soon the shepherds came that way, where the baby lay
And were kneeling, kneeling by his side
And their hearts believed again, for the peace of men
For a boy was born, king of all the world
Chorus
And all the angels sang for him, the bells of heaven rang for him
For a boy was born, king of all the world x2
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
You better watch out, you better not cry,
You better not pout, I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He's making a list, and checking it twice;
He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake! (repeat)
The 12 Days of Christmas
(starting from day 10)
On the twelfth day of Christmas My true love gave to me Twelve drummers drumming
Eleven pipers piping
Ten lords a-leaping
Nine ladies dancing
Eight maids a-milking
Seven swans a-swimming
Six geese a-laying
Five golden rings
Four calling birds
Three French hens
Two turtle doves

In writing we will be following the CYPIC approach . Our first target will be punctuation. We will start with imaginative writing and then go onto recount writing.
Children will get one spelling sound a week and we will follow our spelling carousel which includes, introducing the sound, diacritical marking, elkonin boxes, silly letters and a test on a Friday.
All children will focus on one book per week. P3's will follow the reflective reading scheme and P2's will work on building their comprehension skills through different activities.
