Primary 1 - Phonics - consolidation of j, z, w, v, y, x - 12.01.26 - 16.01.26
We have now introduced all of the single sounds in Jolly Phonics set 4.
This week in class we will recap all of these sounds, work on identifying words beginning with these sounds and revise our letter formation.
Have a try creating short words using any of the sounds we have learned so far!
s, a, t, i, p, n, c/k, e, h, r, m, d, g, o, u, l, f, b, j, z, w, v, y, x
We have now introduced all of the single alphabet sounds. 'q' is taught as a digraph with 'qu' rather than as a single sound as it always appears as 'qu' in English words.
We hope you stay warm and safe today and that you get outside and enjoy the snow!
If you are looking for some activities to keep your brains working hard, have a look at the options below!
Activities for P2s are also on Google Classroom!
Please share any fun things you do on Google Classroom or by email!
Sumdog : Continue to access Sumdog and try the assigned tasks.
P1 - go on a shape scavenger hunt. How many squares, triangles, circles and rectangles can you find around your house? Maybe challenge your grown ups or brothers and sisters to see who can find the most!
P2 - counting in 2's 5's and 10s
In our CLIC and numeracy lessons we have been working on counting forwards and backwards in 2's, 5's and 10's.
Have a go at practising this. I will share some links to videos and activities to help.
Some of us have started linking this skill to multiplication and are beginning to understand that:
1 x 2 = 2
2 x 2 = 4
3 x 2 = 6
4 x 2 = 8 ...
1 x 10 = 10
2 x 10 = 20
3 x 10 = 30
4 x 10 = 40...
1 x 5 = 5
2 x 5 = 10
3 x 5 = 15
4 x 5 = 20
If this is you, you can also try playing hit the button and coconut multiples.
Hit the button - Hit play, choose times tables, then times tables up to 10, then choose x2, x5 or x10. Answer the questions that you are shown. You can also practise doubling and halving.
Coconut multiples - Hit play game, choose multiples to 10 and then select if you want to do 2's, 5s or 10s. You then have to hit all of the coconuts that have a number you can count to when counting up in that number.
P1 - Blending CVC words
Have a try to blend CVC words together. Use the videos below to help you!
P2 - Spelling games
Have a go at some common word spelling games on spellingframe.co.uk
