(Under the Sea song)
Lyrics below:
Ariel, listen to me
The human world, it's a mess
Life under the sea
Is better than anything they got up there
The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else's lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?
Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea
Down here all the fish is happy
As off through the waves they roll
The fish on the land ain't happy
They sad 'cause they in their bowl
But fish in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get hungry
Guess who's gon' be on the plate?
Oh, no, under the sea
Under the sea
Nobody beat us
Fry us and eat us
In fricassee
We what the land folks loves to cook
Under the sea we off the hook
We got no troubles
Life is the bubbles
Under the sea (under the sea)
Under the sea (under the sea)

Term 1 Overview
Literacy
We will focus on sentence structure and openers in term 1. We will follow the writing scheme 'CYPIC' where the children will write 3 times a week for 20 minutes a day and 5 minutes editing time.
Children will get one spelling sound a week and we will follow our spelling carousel which includes, introducing the sound, diacritical marking, elkonin boxes, silly sentences and a test on a Friday.
We will continue to follow the reflective reading scheme and do two long reads (book related comprehension) a week and one short read (comprehension relating to a topic, interest or anything else) a week.
Numeracy
We will focus on 2D and 3D shape, patterns and relationships and Maths Week Scotland will be from 22nd - 28th September.
Children will be looking at vocab such as, sides, faces, vertices and edges. Naming more complex shapes and looking at angles in 2D shapes.
We will be looking at patterns and relationships, with a specific focus on number patterns. With a mix of looking at ready created ones, finding out what the pattern is, continuing it on and making our own number patterns.
HWB
We will focus on mental health and wellbeing and our emotions.
We have already introduced our emotional check-in which children complete every morning and can change throughout the day.
We will also have a focus on our mental health, ways we can help improve our mental health, what mental health is and much more!
We will have RADS every Tuesday and P.E with Mrs Forbes every Wednesday.
Science
We will be looking at Biodiversity and
Interdependence.
This will include looking at things such as -
Living vs non living things.
Growing plants - what they need, how to look after them, recording daily what they are doing, how much it grows, weather impacts.
Vocab - mammal, amphibian, insect, bird, reptile
Food chains.
Energy sources
and sustainability
Types of energy that we get from different energy sources, for example, light, sound, heat and electrical.
Different energy sources, sun, food, fuel, wind and waves, to discuss the importance of different types of energy for everyday life and survival.
Cross Curricular
Our first topic this term is Caring Citizens which gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, our learning styles, needs, abilities, work on friendship making and building and creating structures, routines and our UNCRC Class Charters.
We will then move onto Historical where we will be looking at Egyptians!
We will continue with: Introducing the sound, Elkonin boxes, diacritical marking, super stories and a test at the end of the week.

Example: 352 + 234 =
300 + 200 = 500
50 + 30 = 80
2+4 = 6
Total = 586
Any: 888 + 272 =
800 + 200 = 1000
