Our Wax Museum presentations are Tuesday, February 3rd from 2:15-2:35 PM in the Page Cafeteria.

Help your child practice their speech and finalize their costumes this weekend! Please send costumes to school on MONDAY so everyone is read for the big day!
Battle of the Books is officially underway! This school-wide competition runs through March 23. Click here for the information letter that was sent home.
Please check in with your child by asking your child the following questions: Are you competing by yourself or with a team? What book did you check out this week?
Please prioritize reading Battle books for your child's weekly reading log. In order to receive credit for their book, they also need to complete a "reflection form" tracking their thinking from their reading. This can be completed DURING their reading. Minutes spent working on reflection forms count toward their weekly reading log on their homework!
Each student has a yellow bookmark with weekly page goals to help them stay on pace to finish their first book by the halfway point of the competition.
If your child is struggling with their reading, I'd encourage you to help read the book out loud to them OR have them listen to an audio version of the book while following along. Audio versions of all the books are available FREE on YouTube!
Our class will be having a class auction and sharing valentine cards on Thursday, Feb. 12. Please note, this activity is for students only and is not a traditional party with guests.

We are working our way through Chapter 7: Fraction Equivalence & Comparison. At this point, students should be able to find equivalent fractions by drawing area modes and number lines, using multiplication, and using division. They should also know how to compare 2 fractions by first checking to see if either fraction is greater than 1 or greater than 1/2 and using this as a "benchmark."

Here are some visuals to help you see the way these concepts are being taught in class:
