It's almost time for Page Elementary's annual Battle of the Books. We will have a kickoff assembly on Monday for students to learn the details of this schoolwide competition. An information letter will be sent home to parents, and I will include information and updates about Battle of the Books in my weekly News & Notes. Stay tuned for more information!
We spent just this one week working through Chapter 6: Factors, Multiples, & Patterns. Click here to see what was taught in this short unit. Due to the short timeline, there was no formal test for this chapter.

The research phase of our Wax Museum project is done. Now we are working on rough drafts of our essays. Students will write a 5 paragraph biography about their assigned person. We will work on this for the next couple weeks. Then, we will write a short summary of our report in first-person point of view to memorize as our speech for Wax Museum day.
We got to experiment with speed, motion, and energy with Hot Wheels cars! Students learned how to set up a fair experiment by keeping all of their materials and procedures the same except for the one "variable" they are testing. I
n our first experiment, students tested how the height of the ramp affected the distance the car traveled. We practiced recording data in tables and graphs. We also learned to use a graph to notice trends and make predictions.
Then we experimented with colliding Hot Wheels cars to learn how energy is transferred from one object to another.
