Friday was Miss Cheves' last day with us as she will be graduating on Saturday and beginning her job search for her first teaching job. The kids and I are really going to miss her! She has been a great co-teaching partner this semester, and we've been lucky to have her. Best of luck in all your future endeavors, Miss Cheves!

Thank you to everyone for your food drive donations. Our class was the contest winner! We enjoyed donuts, along with our LINKS from Mrs. Shipley's class, on Thursday as a reward.
Students received their Wax Museum assignments this week. Ask your child who they will be representing at the Wax Museum!
We will begin researching in class next week. If your child is eager to get started on their own, they are welcome to begin reading about their person, check out a book from the library, or print off information to bring to class to research.
You can also begin thinking about your child's costume for the Wax Museum. You do not need to buy a costume! Students often select items from their closet or borrow from siblings/friends/parents to wear something representative of their person. Props are fine, but students may not "hand out" any items to Wax Museum guests (ex: Milton Hershey can't hand out candy...sorry!)
Report cards will be sent electronically through School Messenger by the end of the day December 19th. Please send me an email if you do not receive your child's report card!
We are continuing with our study of Division. Click here to see what is taught in this chapter and how you can support your child at home.
WARNING: Long Division is coming next week! This is usually the most challenging skill for students to learn in 4th grade. It takes a lot of repetition and practice. Knowing their basic multiplication facts by heart is the key to success in Long Division, so keep practicing those facts at home!
Essential Question: How can people make a difference in their community?
Reading Strategy: Visualize
Reading Skills: Flashback, Point of View, Character Perspective
Vocabulary Skill: Context Clues
We did a super stealthy top secret writing project. Each student wrote a "letter of recommendation" for Miss Cheves, and we put them together in a book to gift to her on Friday for her last day. The class had a lot of fun with this secret project, and their letters were well written and heartfelt.
We are learning about the Southeast region. Students used maps to identify important geographic features in this region. We will be learning more about how geography impacts the economy of this region. Students will also learn this history of slavery and segregation in this region and how it has impacted life in this region (and throughout our country) today.
