Setting a field descriptor’s environment
IMPORTANT: Before a field descriptor's environment can be set, an environment first needs to be set on the
current WOW instance.
A field descriptor can be assigned to a particular environment using the Environment field in the Advanced Settings
field set. It is possible to have multiple field descriptors defined for a single field. WOW then decides which field
descriptor to use based on the environment of the connection which has read the field.
Note: All field descriptors generated by WOW are generated with a blank Environment field.
When a field descriptor is read for a connection, WOW first looks for a field descriptor whose environment is an
exact match with the environment of the connection (not the WOW instance environment). If there isn’t an exact
match, then WOW looks for a field descriptor without an environment set. WOW will not use a field descriptor for
a connection if that field descriptor and the connection both have environments set, and their environments are
different.
