Extending Dashboards
Extending the Dashboard is simply adding more child operations and setting it’s Parent Operation to the Dashboard Parent Operation. This allows further customizations in case you might want to display more or even less Operations than the Dashboard is set as by default.
In the example, I turned the Dashboard 3x3 into a Dashboard 4x4 by simply creating other child operations, then setting it’s Parent Operation to the Dashboard Parent Operation, then giving it a Usage Id. Then I add the Usage Id into the Dashboard Parent Properties settings under the Display settings and create another column.
example: Dashboard 4x4 (customization)
This customization displays that you are able to add more child operations if needed. For example, I could have had four columns and only three rows or three columns and four rows.
Note: I maximized the rows being displayed for each child operation to only three rows to fit it all on one page view.
example: placing the Usage Id(s)
As you can see I added the numbers 7000 - 7006 to extend the Dashboard into a 4x4. If I wanted to make a Dashboard smaller, I would simply take out the Usage Id that matched with the child operation I did not want to show.
Also, when you add more child operations, you may want to set the Display Rule to Hide. That way in the running application, there is only one Operation showing instead of the many Operations that could be shown (see examples: 1 & 2 below).
