It Started, but When Will it End?

Has anyone heard about the volcano eruption in Hawaii? Most of the residents in Lanipuna Gardens on the big island, had to evacuate their homes because of the fissures opening across the Hawaiian land. Officials ordered nearly 2,000 residents to leave Lanipuna Gardens and the neighboring Leilani Estates.
The lava flowed to 104 acres by Tuesday, May 8th. Thirty-five structures have been destroyed. Twenty-six out of the 35 structures are houses.
Cracks on Highway 130 in Hawaii widened from seven to eight centimeters over the day and additional cracks were found west of the highway.
Spencer F. told us what he thinks about the volcano, “Well I think it's bad for like tourists for whatever because then people don't want to come there.”
The Kilauea volcano has been erupting since the 1980s and still has not ended. Spewing molten rock and high levels of sulfur dioxide can affect the people living around the area. After a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck May 4, 2018, it conjured an average of one earthquake per hour.
There's poison in the sky due to the toxins in the air from the lava. This gas can spread into other parts of Hawaii, and even close to the U.S.
The volcano has blown ash into the air, and officials say that everyone should remain indoors. If they go outside, they should wear a mask.
Scientists do not know when the volcano will stop, and hopefully no one else will get hurt. Scientists have no real prediction as to when or where the lava will flow or when it will end.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are four turtles and one rat. They were mutated in a lab and Master Splinter saved them because they were going to be used for evil, so Master Splinter trained the turtles for good and not for evil. They started as a comic book and have become a tv show and movie series.
The turtles fell into a strange ooze in the sewers under New York and they then mutated into humanoid turtles. The four turtles are Leonardo; he has a blue mask and he is the leader of the four of turtles. His weapons are two swords. Then there is Raphael; he has a red mask, and he is the strong one his weapon is the sias. Then there is Michelangelo; he is the funny one: his mask is orange, and he likes pizza. His weapons is are the nunchucks. Finally there is Donatello; he is the smart one, and he has a purple mask. His weapon is a staff.
Master Splinter also fell into the ooze with the turtles, and it mutated him into a mutant rat. He was originally a pet rat of a ninja in training and was able to learn how to fight from his owner. His owner was attacked, and Splinter had to flee to New York where he met the turtles and named them after artists he found in a book about Renaissance art.
The turtles also work together with some humans. April O’ Neil was chased down the sewers and was saved by the turtles. She helps the turtles by doing things in public that the turtles can’t. The other human is Casey Jones whose family was killed by the purple dragons. He fights using sports equipment and wears a hockey mask and acts as a vigilante.
The first time the turtles came out was 1984 in a comic book that was supposed to be only a one time comic, but the popularity of the turtles led to the creation of many more comics. There are 62 different comic books and the series finally stopped in 2014. The creators of the turtles are Kevin Eastman, and Peter Laird.
The first movie of the Ninja Turtles was made by Steve Barron, and it was called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There have been six movies so far, but they are not all connected.
The turtles have a lot of enemies, Shredder, Foot Clan, Krang, Lord Dregg, Rat King, Bebop and Rocksteady, Hi-Tech, Titus, Purple Dragon, and Tatsu. The Foot Clan is a clan of ninjas that try to take out the turtles, because when they were little that crawled into a strange ooze and want to use the turtles blood to mutate other people for their army. Shredder is the main enemy; he sometimes works with Krang. Krang is a brain that has tentacles, but he is very smart, and there are a lot of different brains that use robots to move and fight. Bebop is a pig that helps Shredder and his friend, Rocksteady who is a rhinoceros. They are a crew that messes up everything in their path.
The Ninja Turtles have also teamed up with characters like Batman and the Ghostbusters in some of the comics.
To sum it all up, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a very exciting life and are helping people.
Texas Goes Big Again… But On a Darker Note

How would you handle watching 300 people get executed as your job? That’s the question people ask Michelle Lyons, a woman who worked for Law and Justice and witnessed 300 people get executed for the death penalty. Through her career, she had seen people die in unimaginable ways. The way people were executed includes electrocution, lethal injection, and poison.
Lyons says that she first witnessed a death when she was 21; she said that she wrote in her diary; “I watched a person die, and I was fine with it. Is that wrong?” Lyons first started to be touched by the people being murdered when a boy, Ricky McGinn was murdered while his mother stood on the other side of the glass.
All the deaths took place in the Huntsville Death Chamber. The village of Huntsville sits in the Bible Belt in the bottom of the Belt (The Bible Belt is in the southern part of Texas. It is the location that is the most Catholic area in Texas). The village of Huntsville is one of the most religious places in Texas with churches everywhere, but when you find out the actions that happen and is one of the only places to still follow the death penalty people may think otherwise. Other states have already taken the death penalty away and are trying to reinstate it.
Texas leads the U.S with over 550 people being killed by the death penalty. With the seventh state being Ohio; they have 50 deaths. The closest state to Texas is Virginia with 115 deaths. On another note, people from around the U.S would pay to watch these people be executed. They thought it was an honor to witness the soul leave someone's body.
As they say, everything’s bigger in Texas and they definitely went big on their executions. The state of Texas did not plan to get rid of the death penalty, for they say it is necessary and keeps people from performing acts of violence too bad.
“Just Do It”

Do people know the history of Nike? Nike was founded on January 25, 1964 by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight. They were track and field coaches. Often running shoes were not comfortable, and they were made by tire companies. A person’s feet would often bleed after long runs. Nike was originated in Portland, Oregon. The Nike logo was created by a student at Portland State University. The student who created the Nike logo was Carolyn Davidson. She came up with the idea of it in 1971. The name Nike comes from the Greek goddess of victory. The “swoosh” represents a check mark that is fluid and indicates movement and speed. Carolyn got paid $35 for creating the logo.
Nike also has a slogan, which came about in an unusual way. A spree killer named Gary Gilmore killed two people and recieved the death penalty. Just before he was about to receive the penalty the people said “have any last words.” Gilmore said “Let’s do it.” Nike then saw that and came up with the idea of “Just Do It.”
The very first athlete to ever wear a Nike product was a Romanian man named Ilie Nastase nicknamed “Nasty.” He was a professional tennis player.
Nike was originally founded as “Blue Ribbon Sports.” The first retail store opened in 1966, and it later became known as Nike, Inc. in 1978. The first shoes were called “Oprah” shoes. It was called this because Phil Knight saw an oprah show and later named the shoes after her.
Nike originally operated as a distributor for a Japanese shoemaker Onitsuka Tiger, which is now known as the company Asics. Nike was later sold off to Converse back in 2012. Now, Nike is one of the largest, most successful brand of shoes, sports equipment, and clothing, which controls 60% of the sports market.
Overall, Nike is a very successful business and worked with many other companies.
History of the “Science Guy”

Have people ever heard of Bill Nye the Science Guy? Bill Nye is a science educator on the PBS Kids show called “Bill Nye the Science Guy.”
Bill Nye was born on November 27, 1955. Bill Nye grew up in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Cornell University, he moved to Seattle to work as a mechanical engineer for Boeing and eventually became a comedy show writer and performer. Bill Nye went on to become the face of “Bill Nye the Science Guy”. His show was an award-winning educational program that taught science to pre-teens. Bill Nye was also a successful author. He remains a popular public figure and vocal member of the science community.
Soon after, Seattle’s PBS KCTs-TV produced the show “Bill Nye the Science Guy” an educational television program that aired from September 10, 1993 to June 20, 1998. Each of the show’s 100 episodes focused on a specific topic. The show is often used in schools as an educational tool. Over its five-year run, the show won 19 Emmy Awards. Bill Nye personally received seven Emmys, for writing, performing and producing.
Bill Nye enrolled at Cornell University, where he studied mechanics. After he earned his bachelor's degree, Bill Nye went on to begin his career at the Boeing company in Seattle, where he would live for many years.
Bill Nye got his start in comedy after winning Steve Martin look-alike contest and went on to work as an engineer by day and a stand up comic by night. He eventually quit his day job and became a comedy writer and performer on the show “Almost Alive.” It was there that he earned the nickname “The Science Guy.”
Bill Nye’s net worth is estimated at $6.5 million according to the Celebrity Net Worth. Bill Nye’s real name is William Sanford Nye. Bill Nye’s mother was recruited to become a codebreaker during WWII. His father was held in a Japanese prisoner of war camp and he had no electricity for four years.
Bill Nye also works as a scientist. In the early 2000s, he helped develop sundials that were used in the Mars Exploration Rover missions. From 2005 to 2010, he served as Vice President and then as second exclusive director of The Planetary Society, one of the largest space interest groups in the world.
All in all, Bill Nye is a very successful man in everything he did.
Car Statistic Is Very Dangerous

While fatal driving statistics have continued to improve over the decades, driving our car remains the single most dangerous activity we perform during the day. Since most people have been in a motor vehicle nearly every day of their life, driving or even riding as a passenger becomes very usual. The number one death is usually flying out the window.
How would citizens feel if a loved one died from a form of crashing or being trapped in a car? Nearly 1.3 million people die in a road crashes each year, an average 3,287 deaths a day. Also, 20-50 million people are injured or disable in crashes. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44. On average, 37 children die each year after being left in a car. Twenty-nine out of the 37 of the children died from heatstroke after being left in a vehicle.
People are usually scared about plane crashes, snakes, spiders, or even rated R movies. So many people are afraid of so many things, but when it comes to driving, it seems so easy and people aren’t scared. The repetition of driving relaxes people and everyone is guilty of letting our guard down.
As a motorist, drivers can expect to be involved in an accident once every 10 years. Even if a person is the best driver in the world, they can’t control other people's driving. Once every decade or so, expect to be involved in a traffic crash. There is a 1 in 20 chance that the crash someone will have will involve a serious injury.
One example is Kyle, a sophomore at Seven Hills, a private school in Cincinnati. On Tuesday, April 10th, 2018 he was leaving school to go to an afternoon tennis match. He was inside his Honda Odyssey van, which has three rows of seats. Kyle was trying to retrieve tennis equipment from the back of the van when the rear bench seat pinned him.
His last words were, “I probably don't have much time left. Tell my mom I love her, if I die.” It took hours for officers to finally find him, and when they did, it was too late. Some questions officials asked were, “When Kyle called a second time pleading desperately for help, was the call improperly handled?” and another one was, “How did Kyle -- who was on his way to a tennis match -- get trapped in the third row bench seat?” Dies of suffocation and being pinned for six hours.

done for you.
Mother's day is a very important to some people, it is celebrated on Sunday, May, 13. This day is celebrated all over the world by kids and their mothers. On Mother’s Day, people you thank their mom for being in their life and being a good person.
Children buy their mother a gift on Mother's Day to show her how much you appreciate
her and how thankful they are to have her. Some things you can buy are mums, candy, flowers, gift cards, etc. Buying things for mom isn't what it's all about. It shows tell her how much she appericted her . Also how thankful her children are to have her in their life and have such an such a good mother.
Delaney G. that goes to Monroeville Schools and is in the eighth grade said, “ I love Mother’s Day because, I love waking up and giving my mom a gift.
Mother’s Day started being celebrated in 1914 and became a holiday to honor all the wonderful things that your mother do for you in life. Mother's Day was first celebrated in the 19th century and in years before the civil war started and it has been celebrated the second Sunday in May since then. More phone calls are made all over the world on Mother’s day than any other day in the world. Most kids around the world may make their mother a card. They hope that the gifts that they got, she will love and give her a hug.
Schools around the world sometimes make gifts for mothers day like card. It is a day that should be honored to every mother around the world.
