Ohio History

In this course, we will explore the early stages of Ohio History through many perspectives. First, we will focus on the Native American societies with strong ties to the Ohio Valley and into the Northwest Territory. We also will encompass the significance of Ohio's eventual statehood. A unit will focus on the unique political, economic, social, and even environmental aspects of early Ohio and compare them to the present day. Much of the second semester will have the focus on the events of the 19th- century, as Ohio was a central battleground in conflicts over slavery and abolition, and labor and industrial groups.

This is a one semester course.
