The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

Get ready for the fantasy novel, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.

                 It is part of the Chronicles of Narnia.  Have you read any of this series?                          

CHAPTERS 1-3:

1.  children = boys or girls

2.  brother = a male sibling

3.  sister = a female sibling

4.  adventure = an unusual experience

5.  wardrobe = a moveable closet

6.  hoax = a trick or joke

CHAPTERS 4-5:

1.  human = belonging to the race of men and women

2.  sledge = a sled or sleigh

3.  secret = something you keep from others

4.  nonsense = words or actions that have no meaning

5.  reliable = dependable, trustworthy

6.  logic = correct reasoning

CHAPTERS 6-8:

1.  wrenched = twisted or pulled

2.  beckon = to call with a silent gesture

3.  token = something used as a sign

4.  statue = a stone figure of a person or an animal

5.  prophecy = prediction of the future

6.  reign = the time a King or Queen rules

CHAPTERS 9-11:

1.  jeering = making fun of someone or something

2.  threshold = doorway

3.  abide = stand the thought of; put up with

4.  solemn = serious

5.  vermin = small animals often thought of as pests

6.  glade = an open space in a wood or forest

CHAPTERS 12-14:

1.  scheme = a plan

2.  dispute = to argue

3.  forfeit = to give up

4.  siege = a long battle

5.  bind = to tie together with rope

6.  whet = to sharpen

CHAPTERS 15-17:

1.  vile = wicked, evil, very bad

2.  rabble = a noisy crowd

3.  bay = a deep bark

4.  din = sound or noise

5.  foul = bad

6.  alliance = a group of people working together
