Fluency Poems

FLUENCY READINGS

We will be working on fluency in our Language Arts block.  Fluency is an indicator of a child's reading progress and is one of the five components of literacy. When text is read fluently, it usually means the reader understands basic decoding skills and understands the text. Throughout the year, we will be working on making oral readings smooth and accurate.  A fluent reader can:

• read at a rapid rate

• automatically recognize words

• use correct phrasing

It is my goal for your child to be a fluent reader.
